I hesitate to tell you about this campground because it is easily my favorite. It is a hidden gem on Lake Cumberland. The view is worth the lack of amenities and the price is simply amazing!
Here is a run down on the campground details:
Electric 30/50 amp
Sites are gravel and mostly level
Has a boat ramp
Nice views of Lake Cumberland from all sites
Bath House with showers and laundry
The Camp Host collections trash every evening
All of this for only $25.00 a night!! (Discount also available for Senior Pass or Access Pass)
The campground only offers 17 RV sites, all with electric hookups, and five tent-only sites. Eight of Waitsboro’s sites are on the waterfront, making them prime locations for weekend recreation. The entrance is kind of hidden. You enter on the road directly beside the Valero gas station across from the Somerset drive in.
Now for the bad news… those views and privacy come at a price. The Entrance is a very STEEP, curving hill on the edge of a cliff. The road thru the campground is narrow and I would suggest not travel here with a camper longer than 35 feet. I will do a youtube video on this in April when the campground re-opens.
Also plan to use a dump station elsewhere.. we normally use Pilot after a trip here. The dump station and bath house is located on top of another very steep hill and if going to from your site. You must go out to the campground entrance turn around and go back thru the campground to ascend the hill to the dump station. Most sites are spacious, some are very limited or close to your neighbor on at least one side.
You will find a good view from EVERY site!!
The night lake sounds are peaceful and calming. Sitting around a campfire with friends and family is even better.
